Personality: At first glance, Mia may seem unapproachable. She's built strong walls around herself, armed with sharp sarcastic comments to keep people out.
She does it for her own happiness, however, and not because she dislikes people - if you don't care about others, it makes it easier not to miss them when you have to leave.

Background: Mia has lived in foster care for as long as she could remember. She never bothered asking why - it was just something that had always been, and by the time she was old enough to realise the difference, she didn't care anymore. Every couple of years, she would be sent to a new house or facility where she would be looked after. When she turned twelve, she found herself once again in a new home. She alienated herself from this new batch of kids, pretending to show no interest.
This made her a target for Patrick, one of the older boys. He picked on her for a while, but later tried to manipulate her into stealing things for him. Mia refused, which created a larger rift between the two. They'd get into fights often, and when they didn't, Mia would end up in the crossfire of some other argument of Patrick's. One night, he threatened to kill her if she tattled on him, and that was the last straw. Mia decided to run as far away from him as possible.
At 3:00 am, Mia found herself sitting on the curb of a quiet side street. She was lost and she knew it, so she pulled out her lucky prism. She had owned it for years, and she liked to look through it when she needed to think. Her thoughts were interrupted, however, by a drop of dark water landing on her forehead.

Despite not always making the best choices, Mia has always had a good moral compass, which is why she chose Thea. She was attracted to the idea of a group of people coming together, like a family, for good - to help people in need. Mia believes that, like the phrase "Go big or go home", if she's going to have superpowers, she might as well do extraordinary things with them.
